Spanish Preschool and Kindergarten Program

The Spanish Immersion Preschool at Lowcountry Language Academy is inspired by Reggio Emilia's approach to education. Our  teachers incorporate science, technology,  engineering, art and math (S.T.E.A.M) in their classes.    We emphasize learning through exploration, and language immersion in a creative environment.  All hands-on activities are designed to cultivate a higher level of thinking, while increasing confidence and creativity. Registration 2019-2020

Our project-based program fosters your child's growth throughout all developmental domains—physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and artistic. The Spanish Immersion Preschool encourages students to explore various centers promoting arts, literacy, maths-sciences, and motor skills while learning Spanish in a meaningful way. At the end of the year you will receive a beautiful book with all the artwork your child has completed.

Our daily schedule ensures a balance between teacher-guided activities and individual exploration. Our passionate teachers incorporate the Spanish language and culture with your children's interests through fun and engaging hands-on activities.

We offer opportunities for children of all ages to learn according to their unique learning styles and level of understanding.  We welcome children from 3 to 5  years old to learn together, creating interrelation between older and younger children. This type of atmosphere allows for both younger and older children to not only work together, but learn from one another.  We offer after-school enrichment classes after regular school hours. Lowcountry Language Academy will largely follow the calendar of the Charleston County School District.

Preschool Programs

Our language immersion program incorporates exciting story-telling time in order to develop a love for reading and writing. Preschoolers will be exposed to pre-reading and pre-writing activities while kindergartners will be encouraged to explore reading and writing with age appropriate materials according to their skill level.

Lowcountry Language Academy's Spanish Immersion Preschool incorporates art into daily lessons while creatively exploring sensory and abstract concepts. Our art programs are designed around sustainability by working with recycled and organic materials in order to create unique art pieces

Creative and Dramatic Play

Our inviting and playful classroom involves lessons focused on blocks, dolls, puppets, board games and our outdoor play ground.  Beautiful customs from various Spanish speaking countries, police, doctors, and explorers, among others, is sure to provide an amazing role playing experience.

Math and Science

Nature walks are highly valued at Lowcountry Language Academy Spanish Immersion Preschool.  Our nature walks allow your child to experience the environment around them and explore their senses. We collect natural and interesting materials that students study, sort, count, and explore.

One of our students’ favorite activities is exploring Latin and Spanish cuisine through cooking.  We introduce the children to science and chemistry while mixing and measuring ingredients.

Snack Time

Lowcountry Language Academy students participate in the preparation and serving at snack time. Students assist the teacher in preparing healthy, NON-GMO snacks. Snack is a social time for the class, which offers the opportunity to reinforce the Spanish language and table manners.

Sensory Skills

Our sensory table offers our students the opportunity to explore their senses through organic materials such as water, beans, flour, seeds, shells, soil, stones, mud, soap, pasta, leaves, and sticks.

Gross Motor Skills

Our daily lessons include outdoor activities such as soccer, nature walks, and playtime which encourage physical development. We also spend time exploring dance and creative movement while studying different Latin cultures and traditions.

Fine Motor Skills

Arts and crafts activities at Lowcountry Language Academy Immersion Preschool give your child the opportunity to develop tracing, mixing, sewing, sorting, gluing, taping and other work skills by allowing students to learn through hands-on experiences using all of their senses.
