GUIDELINES FOR LEAVING ISOLATION, RETURNING TO CAMPUS

Based on current CDC and SCDHEC guidelines, you may end your isolation after having COVID when

Any student who has been identified as a close contact of the individual diagnosed with COVID-19 has been notified of their close contact status prior to the distribution of this letter.  If you did not receive that notification, your student is NOT a close contact of the individual diagnosed with COVID-19. Therefore, they are not required to quarantine at home or to be tested. However, we do recommend that you continue to monitor your child each day for symptoms. If your child develops COVID-19 symptoms, please:

 1.      Contact their healthcare provider immediately.

2.      Follow testing and isolation instructions described here CDC Overview of COVID-19 Isolation for K-12 Schools].

3.      Notify the school immediately, if they test positive for COVID-19.

According to new CDC guidance, if you are fully vaccinated and have received a booster shot, you are not required to quarantine following exposure if you are showing no symptoms.

We also encourage you to visit for additional information https://scdhec.gov/covid19  for ways to keep our school community safe. CDC also provides additional information about COVID-19 and Schools and Child Care Programs.

We will continue to provide regular updates as needed and will provide prompt notification of any COVID-19 or other health-related concerns that require your attention. We encourage you to contact us with questions and concerns. Please call us at 843 442-5683, email us at lowcountrylanguage@gmail.com

We are committed to facilitating an optimal learning experience and ensuring the safety of our students and staff. COVID-19 vaccination among all eligible students as well as teachers, staff, and household members is the leading public health strategy to help end the pandemic and support schools to continue full operations. Please visit CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccines for Children and Teens page for more information on how to get your child vaccinated as soon as they are eligible.

Health and Safety

Lowcountry Language Academy has organized a health and safety plan that is comprehensive and proactive to keep the LLA community healthy and safe.

At LLA, we are implementing new health and safety protocols and practices to reduce the transmission of COVID-19. Our students' well-being, families, teachers, and families have always been our main priorities. Our ability to stay open will depend on the collaboration of the entire Lowcountry Language Academy Community.

Prevention

Having a definite case of COVID-19 will prompt the school closure and quarantine for 14 days due to the risk of exposure for other children, teachers, and their families. LLA recommends that parents and staff avoid crowds, wear a face mask, social distance, wash hands frequently, and monitor health. The primary way people get infected by the novel coronavirus is via aerosols. When people with Covid-19 cough, sneeze, yell, sing, or even speak, they shed clusters of the coronavirus that float through the air in microscopic saliva drops. When other people breathe in those tiny microdroplets, they can catch the disease. If a student is sick, it could easily expose other children while speaking, sneezing, or singing. We kindly request to the LLA community do your due diligence to open the school successfully. We also encourage parents to talk about the school's new protocols (temperature screening, face masks, social distance in the classroom and playground) with their children and proper coughing and sneezing etiquette.

Symptom Monitoring

  • Daily screening at the Enrollsy Parent Portal is required before dropping student at school

    Instructions:

-Download Enrollsy App in your Play Store (Android Phones) or Apple store (Apple phone)

    -Sign-in into your account

    -Activities

    -Students Name

    -Check-in

    -Health Screen

  • Daily arrival symptom screening will be required for all the students, staff, contractors, and visitors. It will include temperature screening with a touch-less thermometer.

  • Any student/staff above 99.5 will be sent home immediately or is experiencing other symptoms of COVID-19 will not be admitted to the school. (If are explainable by an underlying condition (such as shortness of breath or cough for an individual with asthma), exclusion may not be necessary.

Cohorting

  • LLA has two cohort groups with a maximum of 8 children and one teacher

  • Playground times are staggered, and the student groups will be kept separate for special events such as art, music, and exercising.

Campus

  • To increase ventilation during indoor activities, windows will be open occasionally.

  • During circle time and gross motor skills activities, each child will have a designed area that follows social distance.

  • The social distance of at least 6-ft. would be encouraged between non-household individuals unless participating in activities.

  • LLA staff will wear a mask or shields at all times

  • The Classrooms have an air filter with UV light.

  • School Tours will be scheduled after school hours.

  • Hand-washing and Hand sanitizing.

Each classroom has a bath and sink, as well as an out outdoor area, to promote hand-washing throughout the day. Children will wash their hands before snack and lunchtime. They will also wash their hands after art and when coming from the playground. Hand sanitizer stations are widely available.

Sanitizing Protocols

  • Routine sanitizing of objects like hands rails, doorknobs, light switches, sink handles, countertops, toilet training potties.

  • Routine sanitizing of desks, chairs, toys, and games

  • Staff will perform routine sanitizing share items, before and after use, including at the beginning and end of each day or between groups.

  • Staff will perform daily sanitizing with a disinfectant with cleaning products approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to kill the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and safe to use in schools. (After school hours)

  • Lowcountry Language Academy will close for 48 hours for cleaning and disinfection if a person is determined to have been contagious with COVID-19 while in the facility.

Academic Year

  •  We will expand the outdoor exploration and learning curriculum. Our outdoor area will be set up as a classroom to enhance learning and connect students to the world.

  • Lesson plans that will offer outdoor activities to give students a head start in STEM

  • Literacy and language skills will be developed during circle time by reading books and storytelling. The students will increase their vocabulary by exploring new themes discovering words, sounds, and reading.

  • Some brain-building nature activities that we will explore with the students are

    • Build with and dig in the dirt

    • Watch worms wriggle through the soil.

    • Gaze at clouds

    • Jump in puddles

    • Listen to the birds’ songs.

    • Smell fresh-cut grass

    • Collect seeds

    • Construct things with twigs, logs, and mud

  • Our nature exploration will foster children's intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development.

  • Puzzles, coloring, writing, and tracing will be incorporated throughout the day with fun and engaging activities.

  • Our outdoor play equipment, water tables, and sand areas will encourage imaginative play and aid in fine and gross motor skills development.

  • Students will explore their creative side with our selection of arts and music supplies. Students will find art easels and panels, sidewalk chalk, chimes, and rain drums to develop their love for art and music in our indoor and outdoor area.

  • The playhouse, pretending to play with toys, and puppet theaters, will encourage dramatic play in our outdoor and classroom environments.

What to bring to school every day?
